From the National Championship to a Mission for Marriages.

Coach Harold Thompson spent years winning on the court. Now, he’s helping couples in Grand Prairie and DFW win where it matters most—at home.

Why did a National Champion become a Marriage Coach?

In 1983, Harold Thompson stood on the court as his NC State team pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history to win the National Championship. That season taught Harold a truth he never forgot: Victory is the result of preparation, discipline, and a shared playbook.

After years in the professional world, Harold looked at the "game film" of modern marriages and saw a crisis. Couples were stepping into the most important relationship of their lives without a coach or a strategy. He realized his calling wasn't just to coach athletes to win games, but to coach couples to win at life.

What defines a "Winning Marriage" in North Texas?

Transitioning from the hardwood to the heart, Harold founded Married Life Ministries to provide something traditional therapy often lacks: Actionable Fundamentals.

Harold saw that the divorce rate in Grand Prairie, Dallas, and Fort Worth wasn't high because people stopped loving each other; it was high because they stopped practicing the "drills" that keep a team unified. He took the same principles of Self-Mastery and Teammate Accountability and rooted them in Biblical Truth.

Coach Harold and Diane

What is Biblical Marriage Coaching in Grand Prairie?

Biblical marriage coaching at Married Life Ministries is a goal-oriented process led by Coach Harold Thompson. Unlike traditional therapy, it focuses on applying biblical principles and practical "skill sets" to resolve conflict and build intimacy for couples in the Grand Prairie and DFW area.

How does Coach Harold Thompson's basketball background help marriages?

Coach Thompson applies the principles of championship teamwork—discipline, communication, and fundamentals—to the marital relationship. This "coach-player" dynamic helps couples move from passive participants to active "teammates" in their marriage.

Does Married Life Ministries offer services in Arlington and Fort Worth?

Yes. While our home office is in Grand Prairie, we provide coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements for couples and churches throughout Arlington, Fort Worth, and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

What is the "Self-Mastery" skill set in marriage?

Self-Mastery is the ability to govern one’s own emotions, spiritual life, and reactions. Coach Harold teaches that a healthy marriage is the union of two "self-mastered" individuals who take personal responsibility for their contribution to the relationship.

Are sessions available for couples outside of North Texas?

Absolutely. While we focus heavily on our local DFW community, we offer virtual coaching sessions to help couples worldwide implement our Biblical Marriage Playbook.
